In fact it\u2019s a two-way effect. The interaction is neutral. It\u2019s just that good environments are going to interact with the genetic makeup to produce better outcomes than adverse environments. So I think that\u2019s an important issue; the interaction itself is neutral. The outcomes are dependent upon good or adverse environments. The other thing I should say is that the genes, the genetic makeup that we have, make us all a little bit different. So the genes themselves, determine to a certain extent, why some of us have a predisposition to certain diseases like heart disease and cancer. They determine, you know, whether we\u2019re tall or short. And we know that there are some genes that influence our level of obesity. The environments can interact with that predisposition however, to either make things better or make things worse. So there really is a total interaction between the genes.
