Scene: a mother's perspective

Staff are very, they’re very friendly, they’re very nurturing and they have a lot of one on one with the parents about their child. I think that’s really important because they get to know the child. They have four babies to one caregiver and it helps the baby get to know one person and they get to know that caregiver and trust them and then vice versa. You get feedback from the caregiver about your child. If they’re fussy about something, they don’t like something or they do something new. I find this very important. My son has been here for two years and my daughter has the same caregiver as my son and I find it really important because I know my kids’ caregivers. In the beginning when I was a first time parent with my son I used to like you know what to stay here and then not go to class because they started crying when I left. But now it’s a different situation. This is my 3rd year and I know that they’re being well cared for. Any concerns that I have I just ask the caregiver. You learn a lot more when you’re a first time parent because if you’re not sure about something you’re going to ask the people that you know have experience. For example like the diaper changing or something like that. Some things that I didn’t know about I’ve learned from here and if I don’t know about something then I ask because I don’t want to do anything…because they have the routines and everything set up. Or anything that I don’t know then I’ll ask one of the caregivers or the director.
