Kornelson – receptive and expressive language

So receptive language is that ability to understand the information around you, what people are communicating and saying to you. And that can also be something like, “line up at the door” or “first get your juice, then get your snack.” It’s the ability to understand those directions in steps.
Expressive language would be my ability to communicate outward. And a lot of times I might be able to understand more language than say it out loud. I might be able to understand really complex words, but I might not be able to use those words well in sentences or with the correct meaning.
