Identical?

Brook and Leah are identical twins, but they are also very different people.

Right from the beginning, it was clear that they had quite distinct personalities.

They approach life at their own pace – Leah watches what is going on around her, and decides whether or not to join in.

Brooke will start and finish anything quickly – a meal, a painting activity, reading a book, or any other activity. She will also make a bigger mess!

Here you can see Brooke in the box, painting with several colours, while Leah sits outside of the box, using one colour.

Leah has more patience; she can sit still for a longer time, and will often still be engaged with something long after Brooke has lost interest.

With Brooke, you can sometimes offer her an alternative to what she wants and she will accept it, but you will get a lot more resistance from Leah – if she wants something she is not going to give in easily.

Brooke approaches new things enthusiastically, always ready for her next adventure. Leah is much more cautious, needing a bit more time to warm up to a new idea, person, or situation.

Once she has warmed up to it, she will happily play and interact, but won’t adapt to sudden changes as readily as Brooke will.

They compliment each other well. Brooke gets Leah to do things she might not otherwise even try,

and Leah helps Brooke to slow down and be a little more careful.
