Corter – outreach
Another important aspect of this project is the fact that it does a better job of outreach to all families. And one problem with our patchwork of preschool services for children and families is that some families are left out in accessing programs. And we know, for example, they don’t connect as well to parents that are challenged by language, or face the challenges that lone parents face. And I think this integrated program has a number of ways to meet differing needs, and a number of ways of reaching out into the community to pull parents in to a seamless, service hub so that there might be a program that appeals particularly to single adolescent mothers, and having come in to that program they would then be connected to the full package if integrated services and find things that they might not otherwise discover and that’s the same for any parent; that there are these various outreach possibilities and different ways of coming in to the program but once they come in it’s seamless. So it’s seamless in terms of access, as well as in terms of the program itself.
