Chorney Rubin – reciprocity: partnerships with families
I think we talk a lot about partnerships with families, and I think that it’s one of the areas of strength of the Early Years sector. I think that the Early Years sector has always seen themselves as, we see ourselves as having spent decades thinking about partnering with families and, you know, taking into consideration parents’ point of view. I think the field is asking more. The research is – is saying that it’s more than cooperating and collaborating with parents. I think it’s about this notion of reciprocity, right? Being equal partners and recognizing that parents are indeed experts, and that we learn from families and with families, and that the children’s success is really going to be with and through one another. Right? And help to see that families – help families to see that they have a lot going on and a lot of learning is happening at home, and often the question is, how can we support the learning that’s happening at home, right? In that true spirit of reciprocity.
