Chorney Rubin - play-based learning
Play-based learning is – it’s really the privilege of working with children in an area that is most natural for children to be in. You know, the world of play is where children thrive. And play-based learning really starts with respecting the belief that children learn best through play. That they have a predisposition to explore, to inquire, to test, to try things out, to come to their own conclusions, to really scaffold their own learning. And it’s a belief that children will do that if left alone, probably, absolutely. And in the field of Early Years it really has us think about what our role is and, you know, children will learn in an optimal environment in which they can engage in play and inquiry.
But it’s – the value is much more significant when there’s an educator who believes about play, understands children’s learning and development, and sets the stage and the foundation where children are going to get the most out of their play-based experience.
