Anika and Mila’s First Day of Preschool

It is the first day of preschool for Anika and Mila. As the two children walk hand and hand with their parents toward the school, Mila notices the other children in the schoolyard and breaks free of her mother’s grasp to join them. Anika stays by her father and begins to tighten her grip as they approach the school.

The bell rings and Mila waves good-bye to her mother and she runs toward the doors of the preschool. While Mila joins the class, Anika holds back and whispers to her father that she does not want to go inside. As the teacher approaches to invite Anika to join the other children, Anika quickly hides behind her father’s leg and begins to sob. Anika’s father suggests that Anika accompany Mila inside the class to help her feel comfortable. The teacher thinks that is a great idea and welcomes them both into the school.
