Campbell - Two-Spirit

A child down here asked me, “What is Two-Spirit?” And I’m honestly just learning it myself. It’s a very new identifier for me. But when they asked, I tried my best to explain the definition and then, how I feel about it. So, when they asked, I said, “Two-Spirit, to me, feels like not a boy, not a girl, but sometimes both, sometimes neither. It’s how I feel day to day.” So she goes, “Well, how do you feel today?” And honestly, that just made me smile because it makes me feel like I belong and that the kids accept me. And I accept the kids, too. So, when she asked, I told her, “Well, I feel like neither today, but ask me again tomorrow.” Yeah, it was a very special moment, and I just love them. I love their questions.
