Clinton - connection versus correction
There are lots of other strategies that people use. But I have observed that when we say that relationship, that love builds brains, then we tend to spend more time focusing on the relationship and connecting more with our children. But just like I, when we talk about what’s your view of the child? If your view of the child is you have to make them behave, then you’re spending so much time correcting them. They have to follow as teachers, they have to follow this curriculum, rather than exploring what do they love to do and how can they learn through that? So I talk a lot about the power of connection and relationships and for families to stop and think at the end of the day how much did I connect with my child? How much did I correct and direct them? And early childhood educators and teachers find this just amazing.
